Sharp Digital IMAGER™'s are ca smart™ certified with
Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA) Unicenter® enterprise
management solution. This opens a new era in advanced status monitoring
and management of networked printing devices from Sharp. Information
Technology (IT) departments are now better able
to manage their Sharp printers and multi-function devices
that are so critical to the productivity of today's knowledge
workers. Through advanced management agents, organizations can now
monitor their Sharp Digital IMAGER systems from the same consoles
as other key IT resources, allowing staff to respond more quickly to
problems and to make corrections before productivity is impacted. These
issues can then be resolved in a timely manner.
This differentiates Sharp from other printer vendors by providing
users with the option of managing Sharp printers and MFPs through either
its Administration Utility Suite or as part of the extended eBusiness
environment provided within Unicenter.
This latest offering from Sharp complements Sharp's
Administration Utility Suite, which provides various remote
device administration tools. Sharp Printer Status Monitor at
the desktop level, Sharp Printer Administration Utility for
remote device management over the network, Remote Email
Diagnostics for device monitoring by email on a scheduled
as well as event driven basis and the Imager Home Page which
ties it all together. Working alone or in unison, this suite is
designed to enable you to maximize device uptime while
minimizing costs. |

Unexpected high volume print jobs are handled with ease.
Callisto allows the administrator to establish a cluster of printers and
it automatically sends print jobs to the printer with volume
capabilities that match the size of the job. Larger are split among
printers in the cluster. |

Callisto maximizes printing efficiency by minimizing down time. If a
printer is offline, Callisto automatically sends print jobs to the first
available printer for an uninterrupted workflow. |
| Callisto gives network administrators total control of
print management across entire networks. Running as a service on a
Windows NT4/2000 server or workstation, Callisto is a powerful tool
which is capable of monitoring and manipulating network print functions
in both Windows NT4/2000 and Novell NetWare 4 or 5 environments. The
network administrator creates a virtual print queue that appears to
users as a single printer. The administrator then defines a number of
alternative output devices which could service the print request, and
the criteria for how each device will be used. If a printer goes
off-line for any reason (paper jam, door open etc.) printing is
automatically re-directed to an alternative device. Multiple input
queues can be configured, giving administrators complete control of
their print environment. The service will monitor network print
requests, irrespective of the operating system running on the users'
workstations. It is thus compatible with a mixture of Windows 3.1,
Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Novell NetWare. The
configuration interface has been designed to clearly display network
resources, and to simplify the task of managing those resources. By
utilizing a simple drag and drop approach, an administrator can have a
system installed and configured in less than 15 minutes. (Copyright
